About The Owners
Marty Lewis
Captain Marty Lewis was born in Fort Myers and raised in Immokalee, Florida. He spent his summers vacationing in the Florida Keys with his family. When he was 15 years old, his father moved the family to the Florida Keys to operate a fishing charter business. At a young age, his love for fishing and being on the ocean was very apparent, and anytime he wasn’t in school, you would find Marty on a boat. Eventually, Marty acquired his Captain license and began running a boat for the Main Attraction while enrolled in marine mechanics school.
Captain Marty has always had an amazing work ethic. Despite the hard work and long days, Marty loves what he does. Fishing is not just fun, it requires long hours and working weekends and holidays. A typical day starts off catching live bait at dawn, preparing the boats to fish, a full day on the water, processing the client’s fish, cleaning the boat, and fixing any issues from that day. Anyone who knows Captain Marty would describe him as a hard worker, and someone who lives to fish.
Captain Marty has won countless Sailfish and Mahi tournaments throughout the years, as well as several for Swordfish and Tarpon. Back in 2005, he set the Keys record of catching 36 sailfish in one day, which was unheard of at the time. In 2018 he caught 61 sailfish in one day. Now, as of Easter Sunday 2020, he holds the FL Keys record of 70 Sailfish caught and released in one day.
In 2017, literally weeks before Hurricane Irma devastated the FL Keys, Marty decided to buy the family business, Main Attraction Sportfishing. Needless to say, he was off to a very challenging start. After several hard months of clean up and repairs he was back in operation and ready to take on the fishing world. Marty is responsible for producing the fish, maintaining the vessels, and keeping the clients happy on their charters.
In January 2022, Marty became co-owner of the Marathon Sailfish Marina with his wife Katie.
Katie Lewis
Katie Lewis is originally from West Palm Beach, Florida. Katie’s father introduced her to the joy of fishing at a young age catching small fish off the dock. As the years went by Katie began to fish in the Florida Keys on charters with her father. Her father enjoyed fishing with Captain Marty and the Main Attraction team. He would hire Main Attraction for company outings, and Katie would get to tag along on those trips since she loved to fish. Captain Marty also had a huge part in helping Katie develop her passion for fishing, as he would answer her questions, teach, and be patient throughout the learning process.
Katie went off to college and studied Construction Management. Straight out of school, she began her career in project management for a well-known General Constructor in Jacksonville, FL, and eventually moved back to West Palm Beach to work for her father’s underground utility construction company.
Several years later Katie came back to the Florida Keys and went back to that Main Attraction dock and low and behold look who was pulling in with a fresh catch of Mahi, Marty Lewis! Katie and Marty hit it off and the rest is history. Katie moved to the Florida Keys in 2015 and married Marty. Katie never dreamed she would own and operate a charter boat business! Due to her knowledge of fishing she quickly discovered she was a natural on the phone with clients. Katie was also able to apply skills she developed in construction management to running the day to day operations of the Main Attraction.
In January 2022, Katie became co-owner of the Marathon Sailfish Marina with her husband, Marty. Katie is also the founder of the Marathon Premier Sailfish Tournament, an annual event that raises money for charity.
Together Katie and Marty make a great team. Katie is responsible for the business aspects of the Main Attraction such as finances, reservations, client relations, social media, and marketing.
