Florida Keys Tarpon fishing provides anglers with an action-packed adrenaline rush that you will never forget! Every Spring through Summer in the Florida Keys, thousands of large Tarpon travel through Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon, and Key West.
These Tarpon gather in mass, under bridge pylons, where they ambush unsuspecting baitfish pushed through by strong currents. This annual migration provides anglers with the opportunity to put their skills to the test. By anchoring up under these bridges and drifting back live baits such as mullet and crab, Captains can replicate this scenario and trigger bites.
Getting a bite doesn’t necessarily mean catching a Tarpon. Tarpon are experts at jumping acrobatically out of the water and shaking the hook out of their mouth.
Tarpon are also notorious for swimming around bridges and dock pilings to chafe and break the line.
Tarpon can reach sizes of up to 200lbs and can fight for hours on light tackle before being successfully caught. For these reasons, it is best to go fishing with an experienced Captain that will keep the boat in range of the Tarpon during your high speed chase.
The Main Attraction Fishing Team has a deep respect for these prized sportfish, which is why we use circle hooks, and release all caught Tarpon. Thanks to our partnership with Gray Taxidermy, our team can assist you with your trophy fiberglass replica mount, without having to harm the fish!
Depending on where the best bite is, our Captains might take you to a shoreline location, Bahia Honda Bridge, Long Key Bridge or the famous Seven Mile bridge. If you are looking for a memorable experience catching your very own Tarpon trophy give us a call at (305)-289-0071 or contact us.
