Every year, the local Marathon Weekly Newspaper conducts an online poll for its annual ‘Best of Marathon’ awards, nominating local businesses, places, and people. It’s a fun way to raise funds for the Marathon Rotary Club and get some bragging rights. This year, Main Attraction was honored to be nominated for Best Fishing Charter, and our very own Captain Marty Lewis was nominated for Best Fishing Guide.
After a few weeks reminding our followers on social media to vote, and thanks to our amazing clients, family, and friends, we got an exciting call, inviting Main Attraction to the Best in Marathon banquet! The banquet was held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the beautiful Hawks Cay Resort.
Captain Marty, Alex, Katie, and family friend Mark attended the event to support the cause. They had no idea what to expect, as this was their first time attending, but boy, was it entertaining for them.

The hosts for the evening were Jason Koler, who owns the Weekly newspaper, and one of his well-known journalists, Alex Rickert. They all enjoyed the food and appreciated the opportunity to rub elbows with so many well-respected business personnel and officials around town.

When Main Attraction was announced as the winner for Best Fishing Charter, a stunned Captain Marty, Katie, and Alex made their way to accept the honor.

Afterward, they posed for a celebratory photo with the beautiful backdrop.

Next, the award for Best Fishing Guide was presented to Captain James Simsic. Congratulations to him on this well-deserved honor!
With all the fierce competition and abundance of fishing charters throughout Marathon, it was a huge compliment to receive the Best Fishing Charter award. With the program over, the Main Attraction team headed home for some much-needed rest, as Captain Marty and Alex were running an offshore trip together the next day.
That Sunday, they fished a repeat client, Greg McMurtry and his friends, and absolutely crushed the mahi and tuna on a ¾ Day. The late-season mahi and blackfin tuna bite has been on fire lately, which is incredible for October fishing!
