Inshore Variety – March 2021 Fishing Report

The Reel Attraction is our 32’ center console which is one of our most versatile boats in the fleet. Typically, Captain Steve runs the Reel Attraction, but he had the day off and the boat wasn’t booked, so Captain Marty Lewis took his wife, young daughter, and his mate Lance, to fun fish inshore for a few hours. Katie and Lance with a Grouper. The fishing had been kind of slow the previous few days, but there is an old saying “A bad day of fishing is better than a good day in the [...]

Barrelfish, Rare Creatures Of The Deep – 2021 Fishing Report

Katie Lewis with the first Queen Snapper of the day. Earlier this week Main Attraction had a day open for the Main One, their 49-foot sportfishing vessel. Owners Captain Marty and Katie Lewis decided to take it out for a day of fun fishing with some crew members, friends, and family. They headed offshore on a very calm day and decided to drop some baits down to the bottom in deep water. Katie’s friend Carlin, father Fred, and son Alex had never caught a Queen Snapper and wanted to cross that species off their [...]

Queen Snapper Fishing in the Florida Keys

Cookie has charted with Captain Marty for over 3 decades! On January 6th, 2021 Main One had a full-day trip scheduled with one of our long-time customers, Mr. Cookie Rice. He brought along his daughter, Sally, son-in-law James, and a few neighbors to enjoy a beautiful day out on the water. The crew started heading offshore with live-wells full of bait to target large Blackfin Tuna. Live baiting on the hump can be extremely exciting but also challenging when there are large hungry sharks in the area. We had several anglers over the age [...]

Florida Keys Fishing Report – End of 2020

Finally, 2020 has come to an end and we are thrilled! We just finished two very busy weeks here in the Florida Keys including Christmas week; the busiest week of the year. To be proactive before the nonstop week of fishing, we installed two brand new motors on one of our most popular vessels, the Main Attraction. Unfortunately, within two days of running them, one of our shiny new motors had a major internal failure and was found to be unrepairable. We worked very hard to rearrange trips on our four other vessels and get people on the [...]

Florida Keys Fishing Report – December 2020

December is off to a great start in the Florida Keys. There has been a wide variety of species caught amongst our vessels, such as Yellowtail Snapper, Black Grouper, Cobia, Mackerel, Kingfish, Sailfish, Yellow Jacks, Wahoo, and various large Sharks. The Winter months typically bring more wind from a direction that is usually out of the North. Fortunately, the Islands help block that wind energy when we fish the Atlantic side, allowing us to fish pretty comfortably. You can expect on average a 2-4 foot chop on the ocean during these months. We have had several “cold fronts” [...]

Florida Keys Sailfish Season Kickoff 2020-2021

Florida Keys Sailfish Season Kickoff 2020/2021 As we approach the month of December, it should have every sport fisherman fired up, because it means Sailfish season is upon us. Every winter, we have many customers that request to catch a Sailfish and we hope to fulfill them all. Landing a Sailfish depends heavily on weather conditions, current, and the fish being there, but when it’s game on we love catching and releasing Sailfish just as much as our anglers do. Catching a Sailfish is a lasting lifetime memory especially if it is your first. Main Attraction [...]

Florida Keys Fishing Report – November 2020

It has been extremely windy, the last few weeks here in the Florida Keys. We have been shuffling trips to get charters out on the water, and preparing boats for tropical storms in NOVEMBER! Crazy right? Although, it is 2020, so it feels like anything is possible! We had Tropical Storm ETA (almost hurricane status), bounce off South America, and zig-zag its way towards the Florida Keys. We prepared our vessels as normal and watched it rain and blow for several days. Once the wind settled down and the water cleared up a bit, we went back to [...]
