If you have ever been seasick before, you know it is not a pleasant experience. While everyone who gets seasick will eventually recover while still at sea, it usually takes 12-24 hours for their bodies to adjust to the motion of the vessel. This is not welcome news for individuals on a fishing trip that is only scheduled to last 4-10 hours! So how can you try to avoid getting seasick? Seasick Medicine Our bigger boats mean you can safely fish in larger waves as long as your stomach lets you! If you are someone who [...]

The “Secret” to Successful Yellowtail Fishing Trips in the Florida Keys

Here in the Florida Keys, one of the most sought-after fish to catch on the Reef is the Yellowtail Snapper. People love them because you don’t have to travel very far to catch them and they are delicious to eat! Another bonus of Yellowtail fishing is that since they are smaller fish, we use light tackle to make the fight fun and challenging. These lighter rods are much easier to handle making this fishing style universally compatible with anglers of all ages and skill levels. When the conditions are right, some days the fish are practically jumping in [...]

Florida Keys Fishing Report – End of 2020

Finally, 2020 has come to an end and we are thrilled! We just finished two very busy weeks here in the Florida Keys including Christmas week; the busiest week of the year. To be proactive before the nonstop week of fishing, we installed two brand new motors on one of our most popular vessels, the Main Attraction. Unfortunately, within two days of running them, one of our shiny new motors had a major internal failure and was found to be unrepairable. We worked very hard to rearrange trips on our four other vessels and get people on the [...]

Sailfish On The Reef! – Florida Keys Kite Fishing

Every year near the end of October, beginning of November, Team Main Attraction begins to transition the way we fish in the Florida Keys. This time of year, through the winter, we spend a lot of time on the reef, or within 10-15 miles offshore. As the baitfish push closer to shore, so do our frequently targeted species (Sailfish, Cobia, Kingfish, Mackerel, Snapper, Blackfin Tuna, etc.). On October 31st, Captain Marty and Katie Lewis had some family come into town to go trick-or-treating with their little one. Katie’s father Fred, has always enjoyed Yellowtail snapper fishing [...]

Yellowtail Snapper Fishing in the Florida Keys

Yellowtail Snapper Fishing in the Florida Keys During the winter months, the Main Attraction gets a lot of requests for reef charters in search of delicious yellowtail Snapper. Yellowtail Snapper is a delicious fish that is available on the reef year-round but primarily targeted in the cooler months of the fall and winter. Kids absolutely love to catch Yellowtail Snapper as we use smaller light tackle rods and reels for these typically 12-16 inch long fish, giving them a good fight without overwhelming them. These smaller sized Yellowtail are available on the reef a mere 15-minute ride out from [...]

Christmas Week Fishing Report – December 29, 2018

Christmas Week Fishing Report - December 29, 2018 The holiday season is one of the busiest times of the year for fishing in the Florida Keys. The Main Attraction Fleet fished 30+ charters in the past week, not including Christmas Day. The week started off with a slower bite but has been getting better and better. We had boats coming in yesterday with Blackfin Tuna, Dolphin, Mackerel, Mangrove Snapper, and Mutton snapper. On Thursday, our boats returned to port with large Blackfin Tuna, Dolphin, Kingfish, Mackerel, Yellowtail, and Sailfish flags flying (as we release Sailfish). While the fishing picked up [...]
